Jennifer and Keshu Ye had both innovativity examined the possibilities of ‘space making’ within the print format for this particular zine. Their topics of interests both stem from their curiosities of the ‘gene’ as the starting point and meditating on its various forms through individuals, symbolic bodily parts such as the heart and the umbilical cord. As an artist and director of Post-museum, Jennifer also discussed on the community aspects of Arts in Singapore. Keshu Ye’s interactivity elements in the zine expresses the material fragility of the paper forms and how this is symbolical linked to our landscapes wherein Jennifer and Keshu Ye with this discussion responded to the aspects of making and remaking.

Lija and Adhini both travelled to Singapore to study Fine Arts, exposing themselves to the Singaporean culture of language differences and entering the adult phrase in Singapore as well. In this session of artists to artists dialogue, you will hear their experiences traversing between Indonesia and Singapore, adapting and readapting to life changes and how these trajectories informed, inspires them in their art making process and decisions to create their art works for the Genetic Landscape Zine #01.

Listen to Kai  and Joey discuss about their art work produced for Genetic Landscape Zine #01.

Kai examines coordinates as data and the progress of technological advanced in mapping tools. He also does photographic documentations of peripheral spaces, objects in spaces and the possible shifts through imaginary in displacing their meanings with his Instagram account. The personalisation of coordinates is explored in his series of self portraits and portraits of artist in his art work produced for Genetic Landscape. Joey is the cofounder of Artists Caravan(AC). In this interview, Joey also shared some of the practices of Artists Caravan. Joey’s interest in the ‘Art of happiness’ Joey’s interest in the ‘Art of happiness’ also takes her on a journey of finding her inner voice resonating with philosophy such as Daoism and Wu wei. Listen as each of them uncovers their unique journey through walking their unique mental maps.

Listen to Mei Hsien and Xiao Yun discuss about their art work produced for Genetic Landscape Zine #01.

Xiao Yun is the cofounder of Artists Caravan(AC) and using found materials is one of the three pivotal artistic process in the founding principle of AC. Mei Hsien uses everyday found objects and images/text for her art works. Listen as they actively discussed on the inspirations and art works created with found materials, conceptual developments through portraiture, identity, conservations and the active use of senses in space.
